CAD/CAM Seminar: The Address/Dubai Marina

They say the best things in life are free. Yes, especially if it is a 2000-dirham seminar that is all about the new blah-blah's of dentistry. I don't care about it, I just wanted the POINTS, the 7 precious points to complete my annual requirements for license renewal.
Anyway I just like to share to you a little something about what happened that day,May 13, Friday. The conference was held at The Address, Dubai Marina. It was a 2 day event but the penniless us could only attend the  last day for the obvious reason of no work. It was a very nice seminar indeed:
1. Free flowing coffee and water(sparkling), sweets, cakes and etc.
2. Venue was awesome
3. Enjoyed people watching a lot
4. I did not learn anything,lol
5. and for the second time, now I know why they call her Brenda.hahaha.(shhhhhhh.)

Whoever said Friday the 13th is unlucky?
Still, thank you very much to whoever you are who had brought us there.:)

The Address Hotel

Now I need  a glass of Coke and somebody  auditioning in the front and me asking " Have you got what it takes to be the next American Idol?" after.lol

Lunch wasn't free so we went to The Dubai Marina Mall.

We had a little fill at Yo! Sushi where i realized 2 things:

1. orange and black aren't a good combination(i will not tell the complete details, it's just for the 3 of us who were there, lol)

2. Dubai is really an expensive city. 8 or 10 bean pods, blanched and salted for 12 AED. What?

The certificates time. As always, people give up their composure, ethics and values for that piece of paper.

and look how amazing the toilets here are. can i move here?

outfit.this look kind of reminded me what I wore at the Saks' show although there are 4 things different here.

The Souk: Central Market Abu Dhabi

Perhaps the only shopping destination in Abu Dhabi worth blogging. What makes this a stand out is its amazing mixed Asian-Arabic-Modern interior that I have never seen anywhere else. It's a pretty small 3-floor souk but the way the  space was treated here, wow.. The labyrinth effect, like what old markets are, was greatly considered on the design. Still half filled but worth going to, now.

outside

i love love love the Japanese inspired wood "thing".

look at how space was done here

there were performers on stage that day.

stained glass windows

the way the lifts and escalators blend with its interior- exposed and bare to match the crisscrossing lines of the wood panels surrounding it. My photos don't give justice to how beautifully this was done.

The MET Gala 2011: Fashion Police

The MET gala is fashion's biggest night, yes, it's not the Oscars. Unlike the later where  stars are judge based on elegance and composure, the MET is more of creativity and fashion forward dressing. Stars, models and the designers themselves are usually present and last night's event was no different. It celebrated Alexander McQueen, the late designer. An exhibit- Savage Beauty, was unveiled in his memory and that being said, a LOT also wore pieces from the house.

Enough of that, let's go straight to the fashion police me and let's see who looked best..........................but let's not forget about the not so best. I will divide the house into 5:
1. OK
2. I Like
3. Disappointment
4. I hate
5. Winners

 the OK group

Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen. boring so let's let her pass quick

Stella McCartney in her design. She can never do the Balenciaga silhouette

Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwyneth Paltrow were almost twins last night.SJP in McQueen

Gwyneth in Stella McCartney

I like Karlie Kloss because she was the only one who wore Dior, although style.com didn't specifically said if it were by John Galliano or vintage. It was a brave move for her.

Marc Jacobs and this guy must have been copying that Alexander McQueen and SJP moment years back

Emma Stone in Lanvin. why can't Lanvin produce a "THAT" dress

Naomi Watts in Stella M. the look reminds me of what Mandy Moore wore at the Oscars

The Marchesa team with Josh and Fergie. Fergie was swallowed by the dress.

Dakota Fanning in Valentino. I would have loved to see her wearing that black and white combo her sister(i think) was wearing. Isn't it a little Children of the Corn?lol

Demi in Prabal Gurung and Philip Treacy.i'm not crazy about this look. Where is Ashton?

Keri Hilson in Atelier Versace

THE I LIKE group

Naomi in McQueen

Sarah Burton in McQueen

Daphne Guinness in McQueen. Don't raise eyebrows, she is after all the mother of all weird dressing even before Gaga..and a much McQueen faithful.

Natalia Vodianova in Valentino with Valentino

Miranda Kerr in Marchesa and Orlando.Take note she just gave birth but look at that body.

The other weirdo, Anna Dello Russo. In McQueen.

Michelle Williams in Miu Miu. This woman really knows how to dress.

Consuela, Anouck, Giovanna B. in Marni. It's cool because they were in a group which made it  "getable" to people.

THE DISAPPOINTMENT GROUP

Anna in Chanel, Bee in Balenciaga. isn't it a low?

Giambattista with Doutzen Krous. When that gown walked down the runway it didn't not thrill me like he always does in his previous collection.

Jessica Stam in Tommy Hilfiger. Like, honestly, Tommy Hilfiger? What, nobody now loaned her a dress?

Lara Stone in Calvin Klein. very very disappointing. This gown was worn at the Oscars. Which face(label) is she now by the way? Why didn't they give her a dress that kills?

Chanel Iman in Dolce & Gabbana. Is she going to a party somewhere? Again too simple for her.

Iman in Stella McCartney.Stella should stop dressing the red carpet.Almost everbody who wore her designs flopped.

Amber Valetta also in Stella M.

And now the thing we all like- THE HATE group.lol

I love that Pucci collection, but she, wearing it, i don't know, the boobs are just a distraction.:D

What just happened to Carolyn Murphy here and why did Tom Ford design a hideous gown for her?

Isn't it scary how tall she looked here. In Stella McCartney, yet again.

Diane Kruger in Jason Wu. Not loving this.

J. Lo in Gucci. Because I didn't like this dress on the runway, same here. or maybe the look wasn't for her.

Pocahontas gone mad, that was Ciara's look in Prabal Gurung

Frida Pinto in believe it or not, Chanel Haute Couture. She murdered the dress. MURDERED.

Proof Christopher Bailey should stay in sportswear. Rosie Huntington in Burberry.

Kristen Bell in Tory Burch? Why wear Tory Burch? She did not even wear her own design.

Saoirse Ronan. OMG, she wore that piece that i hate so much from the Rodarte collection. Why didn't she wear the dresses with wheatfields on? They are fantastic.

I don't know who she is but she is wearing a freakishly ugly gown by Escada.

Leighton Meester in Louis Vuitton. She should stop wearing LV. She never learns.

Amy Adams in L'wren Scott. why is she so fond of L'wren Scott these days. She also wore that during the Oscars and nobody's loving it.

Christina Ricci in Zac Posen. Ok it's MET, the dress is worthy of that but I don't think it fits her at all.

Narciso Rodriguez what have you done to Julianna? NARCISO RODRIGUEZ, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO JULIANNA?lol

What was Serena Williams thinking?

Kristen Stewart in Proenza Schouler. I'm so sorry Jack and Lazaro but this number is so boring.

Again, another Chanel HC killer. Karl, please forgive them for they don't know what they're doing.lol

Why is Christian Cota so goodlooking, but that dress?

now the WINNERS

Aimee Mullins in Theyskens' Theory. yes it is only Theyskens' Theory but it is so amazinggggg. Olivier is still not losing it.

Natasha in Alexander Wang. Maybe it's that fierce look that made her on this list.lol. No, She is just gorgeous in this simple nude gown.

Florence Welch in YSL. love love love.

Zoe Zaldana in Calvin Klein. this is minimal dressing at its finest. I love what Francisco has done here.

Love the vintage feel of this one. Isabel Lucas in Louis Vuitton.

this time Stella McCartney made it. Eva Mendes

Christopher Kane's fall 2011 collection was one of my favorites and seeing it on Alexa Chung couldn't be more exciting. love this look.TOTALLY.

Another look that blew me away, Ginnifer Goodwin in Topshop Unique.
Fantastic isn't it?

Not sure about Liv's but that Givenchy HC on Maria Carla?grrrrrrrrr. I just love Riccardo

And another Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci. I have never seen a gown in chocolate brown before and this one so beautiful.BEAUTIFUL. Alicia Keys. I'm so biased when it comes to Givenchy isn't it?LOL.

Gisele in Alexander McQueen. Now this is how you give Tribute to somebody as great as Alexander.
wow,Wow, WOW..

that ends it. do you agree with my choices?:)
